Electronics Production Planned in Kazakhstan

Specialized equipment, laboratories, and trained personnel are needed

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has tasked the government, with taking steps to localize electronics production in Kazakhstan. During a government meeting focused on the development of science, the necessary support for the localization of electronics production was discussed, including the equipping of laboratories and the creation of a technological base for microelectronics, reports Sputnik.

Ablay Sargaskaev, head of the startup VR UniBlock, presented a domestic project to create a new generation of wireless systems with minimal data transmission delay: "The company plans to deliver the first test FPGA kits in March 2025. By June 2025, pre-industrial production of SoC will begin. The company already holds 7 patents and is working on a strategic partnership with AMD/Xilinx.".

Sargaskaev emphasized that for the full development of microelectronics in Kazakhstan, localization issues must be addressed. This requires specialized equipment, laboratories, and skilled personnel, which universities must begin to train.

Olzhas Bektenov instructed the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, to work out specific support measures.
