Strategic opportunities for multilateral cooperation in digital technologies between China, Kazakhstan and SCO member states were presented in Almaty

At the HomeTech & Electra 2025 International Exhibition of Electronics and Household Appliances in Almaty, as part of the business program – the HomeTech & Electra Forum “Development of the Electronics and Digital Systems Market in Central Asia and Adjacent Regions” – presentations were held by participants of an international initiative to establish a Joint Data Security Development Center and a Center for Standardization and Demonstration of Cryptography Application of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.

The projects are aimed at developing technological sovereignty and digital infrastructure in SCO countries.

The goal of the initiative is to strengthen the cybersecurity of the region’s states through the implementation of domestic solutions in basic IT technologies and the formation of compatible national standards in the field of information protection.

Thus, the Chinese database GreatDB was presented to forum participants – one of the first products to undergo state security and reliability assessment under the “Xinchuang” program and certified by the Chinese Information Security Evaluation Center.

As stated by Li Jinsheng, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Senior Engineer of TROY Information Technology / GreatDB:

“Every country has specific IT security requirements, and based on our own experience and taking into account local requirements, together with local companies, we want to help develop a local security system standard.

In China, we have already completed adaptation with the corresponding system software, so the version for SCO countries, on the one hand, must be adapted to the basic hardware and software of these countries. The goal is to comply with the digital security policy requirements of SCO countries.

I believe that within 1–3 years our achievements will appear in the following areas:

First – we will create a research and development center in Kazakhstan, conduct joint testing and mutual certification with local software and hardware manufacturers.

Second – we will develop a special GreatDB database based on the SCO countries version, different from the Chinese version, and submit this new version for certification in Kazakhstan and other countries, and obtain the necessary local certificates and licenses in the field of information security.

Third – we will establish cooperation with local universities and institutes to provide Kazakh educational institutions with software technologies and training services.

Fourth and most important – we will cooperate with local IT companies to provide both the basic version and the SCO countries version of our software.”

It is noted that to date, only 16 database manufacturers have passed this selection, including GreatDB.

At the same time, within the framework of the topic “Development and Demonstration of International Standards for Cryptographic Technologies for SCO Countries”, the commercial cryptography system of Yinxin Shu’an (Chengdu) Technology Co., Ltd. was presented.

As noted by Yuan Ronghui, Deputy General Director:

“At present, most SCO member countries’ teams use encryption systems based on the Western system, however, it has been confirmed that this system has obvious security vulnerabilities.

Therefore, as part of our current standardization work, it is planned to develop a new proprietary encryption algorithm system. The main thing is independence from external influence and natural control – all key technologies and the most important competencies must be in our own hands and not depend on external influence.”

It is reported that “Yinxin Shu’an” is a leading Chinese provider of innovative solutions in the field of cryptography. The company offers a full range of services: from the design of cryptographic systems to their implementation, evaluation and support.

The company actively develops innovative service platforms, supports the localization of solutions and adaptation to the requirements of the Xinchuang ecosystem (China’s national initiative to create an independent IT landscape).

Recall that the II International Exhibition of Electronics and Household Appliances HomeTech & Electra 2025 is taking place at the Atakent Kazakhstan Congress and Exhibition Center in Almaty until August 9.

More than 500 companies from more than 10 countries of the world are participating in the project.

It is expected that the project will be visited by more than 10,000 professionals, including buyers, representatives of retail chains, technoparks and startups from across the region.

The business program of the HomeTech & Electra Forum “Development of the Electronics and Digital Systems Market in Central Asia and Adjacent Regions”, held with the support of the Authorized Organization of the Service for Promoting International Cooperation of Enterprises and the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, is attended by delegations from specialized ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan, trade missions, as well as international brand manufacturers and retailers.
